About Avalanche

Avalanche Student Ministries was created for students in grades 6th through 12th as part of First Baptist Church of Bethlehem.  The name Avalanche Student Ministries was created by the current Youth Pastor, David Klock, in early 2008.  The inspiration came out of Scripture in Acts 1:8 where it reads, “But you will receive POWER when the Holy Spirit comes upon you.  And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere – in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (NLT)  Our hope is that students will come to have a personal relationship with Christ and through that relationship realize they have been given a great POWER, much like the power of an Avalanche!  Avalanche Student Ministries is a place where students can grow, be challenged, have fun, feel loved and learn how to share the love of God with their peers!

The mission and purpose of Avalanche Student Ministries can be summed up in three words: Know, Grow, Show.

Know – Students will learn they were created for relationship: relationship with God and relationship with others.
Grow – Students will grow in their relationships with God and one another.
Show – Two parts: 1) Students will learn how to reach their peers with the Gospel and share the relationship they have with God, by building relationships.  2) They will learn the importance of service to family, church, community, country and world!
