CWS Hygiene Kits and Clean-up Buckets

As one of the 37 member communions of Church World Service (CWS), American Baptish Churches USA helps to provide school kits, hygiene kits, and clean-up buckets for use where needed throughout our global community. Right now, tens of thousands of these kits are being shipped to the areas of our country affected by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma.

As of August 29, 2017, CWS had just over 1,800 CWS Emergency Cleanup Buckets and roughly 140,000 CWS Hygiene Kits in stock. Most or all of these reserves will be used in response to the hurricanes.

To help CWS restrock, Dr. Mary’s Circle will be assembling hygiene kits at their meeting in October. Anyone interested in helping by donating items may place them in the basket in the nartex by October 1. Items required for the kits are listed below: (Please note: CWS will accept ONLY the items listed)

  • hand towels (15″x 28″ to 16″x 32″) – no fingertip, bath, dish towel, or micro-fiber
  • washcloths
  • wide-tooth combs
  • fingernail or toenail clippers
  • bath-size bars of soap (in the wrapper)
  • toothbruses (in the package)
  • standard-size bandaids

Items will be packed in one-gallon sized plastic zipper closure bags at the meeting. Please donate any of these items, but please do not pack them, as there are other guidelines we must follow.

Anyone interested in assembling an emergency clean-up bucket should see Judy James for information.

Thank you so much!
